January Motivational Message... Out With the Old & In With the NEW!

I want to share why letting go of the old is essential for growth and how embracing the new can unlock opportunities you never imagined.


As Socrates once said, “The secret of change is to focus all your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.” I love this quote because besides being true letting go has so much to do with shifting your energy toward what you say you want and desire. I think it's time for us to build something incredible and NEW!


Why We Resist Letting Go


Let’s explore why letting go feels so difficult. First, there’s fear of the unknown. It’s human nature to cling to what’s familiar, even when it no longer serves us because the unknown can seem risky.


Second, there’s emotional attachment. Our habits, routines, and relationships carry memories and meaning, making it hard to imagine life without them.


Finally, there’s the perception of loss. Letting go often feels like giving up or losing something valuable, even if what you hold onto keeps you stuck.


The Cost of Holding On


Holding on to the past comes at a cost.


• Missed Opportunities: When we cling to the old, we’re closing the door to possibilities that could lead to personal or professional growth.

• Emotional Drain: Carrying outdated beliefs or unresolved issues weighs us down, draining our energy and creativity.

• Stagnation: True transformation requires space for the new to take root, and we can’t grow while clutching the past.


The Power of Embracing the New


When we embrace the new, we experience renewed energy. Suddenly, life feels lighter, and we see opportunities we couldn’t before.


We open ourselves to growth and transformation. New experiences challenge us, build resilience, and help us discover strengths we didn’t know we had.


Think about caterpillars. They must let go of their old form, enduring a period of transformation, to emerge as butterflies. They literally become GOO! It’s not easy, but the result is breathtaking.


Finally, embracing the new aligns us with our purpose. Purpose is going to be important this year and it's time. It allows us to step closer to the person we’re meant to be.


Let me leave you with this thought: “You can’t start the next chapter of your life if you keep re-reading the last one.” READ THAT AGAIN!
